Barefoot Bushcraft is proud to serve our community and offer a no-charge special-needs youth archery program.
(We do ask for $10.00 donation to cover costs if you are able)
The program runs Sundays from 2pm to 4pm and is open to anyone who identifies as special needs and is under 18 years of age. In order to participate in this program, the standard waiver must be signed. [The waiver is located here.]
Candidates will learn the 10 steps of shooting including:
- Nocking an arrow
- Grasping The String
- Ready The Bow Hand
- Ready The Bow Arm
- Drawing The Bow
- Correct Anchor Point
- Release The Arrow
- Follow through
- Relax after the shot
There is no charge for this programs as the coached who run it are volunteer
Suggested $10.00/pp donation to cover our costs which include lost/broken equipment, food, firewood, etc.
Equipment is temporarily provided, however candidates are expected to purchase their own before a competition
Barefoot Bushcraft will help with fundraising for candidates to purchase equipment required
After 10 sessions, each candidate will be evaluated to determine if they are compatible with the program and will qualify to compete in tournaments. Candidates which are not chosen for tournaments may still participate in weekly training sessions
Family members may stay during the 2-hour weekly training session and may shoot bows and arrows in a designated lane with a $20.00 charge for equipment rental. They will not receive instruction as all our staff will be busy with athlete candidates.
