Primitive SkillsSensory Games Wandering,  Story of the Day, and Thanksgiving.

Wilderness Archery Summer camp will be run for five day blocks during summer. Camps are age specific to ensure the best possible programming for your student! Please note that due to the high level of cognition and safety required to perform age specific tasks, we have a minimum age of 9 to attend camp.

Ages: 9 – 13yrs

Wilderness Archery Summer camp will immerse your student in nature culture and have many amazing adventures and come home with stories that will last a life-time! Unlike many camps in the Niagara Region we have a focus on outdoor cultural immersion, nature connection, land stewardship, and learning wilderness skills as a way to increase personal development.

Our camps will have your student of any age learn many bushcraft and outdoor skills each week!:

– Fire building with Ferro rods

– Whittling (carving sticks)

– Archery

– Slingshot

– Shelter Building

– Craft Projects

– Leadership and team building skills

– Soapstone Carving

Each day of camp will focus on the following 8 core routines (as seen in the Coyotes Guide To Connecting With Nature)

Fortress Of Solitude

Each week students will build a shelter which will be used by their tribe for games, lunches, and keeping out of hot and / or rainy weather. Shelters will be constructed over several days and be water resistant.

Primitive Skills
Interact with the natural world on a survival basis, creating a powerful context for learning. Develops self-sufficiency, focus, knowledge of place, humility.

Sensory Games
Gets kids out of their heads, and more fully in tune with their bodies and many senses. Designed to heighten awareness, extend focus, increase fitness and vitality, and to invisibly cause deep learning about, and connection to, ourselves, others, and the natural world

Questioning and Tracking
Always asking: Who? What? Where? Why? and How? A departure from the didactic approach: this is this, that is that. Which can create boredom.

leaving behind destination and mission, being open to what calls us. Again, always asking questions over giving answers.

Story of the Day
Tell your story to others
