Axe Throwing

Axe Throwing

Axe throwing is a uniquely Canadian experience. Legend has it that in the 16th century when the first European Voyageurs were plying the waters of the New World by canoe, knives were very poor quality. Used only for eating and cutting rope. Although largely forgotten, every man of the land had a trusty axe. During gatherings, known as Rendezvous, Voyageurs would often have competitions with their axes to see who could stick one in the centre of a target, which was usually a tree. Fast forward a few hundred years later, and axe throwing is a connection to our past. A more primitive time before the internet, electricity, roads, and vehicles. The first commercial axe throwing facility was opened in Ottawa, Ontario about a decade ago, and it has gained in popularity ever since.
