Privacy Policy & Terms of Service

Last Updated: April 18, 2026

At Barefoot Bushcraft, we value transparency and the raw, authentic nature of the outdoor experience. This policy outlines how we handle your data, your likeness, and our business terms.

1. Information Collection and Use

When you register for a workshop, course, or event, we collect personal identification information, including:

  • Name
  • Email Address
  • Phone Number

We collect this data to manage registrations, provide booking confirmations, and send critical updates regarding weather-related cancellations or safety alerts.

2. Communication (Text & Email)

By providing your contact information, you consent to receive communications from us:

  • SMS/Texting: We utilize a “Click-to-Text” model. We may text you regarding schedule changes, weather updates, or confirmations.
  • Email Marketing: You will be added to our email list for news and updates.
  • Opt-Out: You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying “STOP.” You can unsubscribe from emails using the link at the bottom of any message.

3. Participation Requirements & Waivers

Safety is our primary concern. To participate in any Barefoot Bushcraft activity:

  • Mandatory Waiver: All participants are required to sign a formal waiver. [Click Here To See Waiver]
  • Deadline: The waiver must be signed and submitted a minimum of 24 hours before your scheduled start time.
  • Accessibility: The waiver is available online at all times on our website for your review. Failure to complete the waiver within the required timeframe may result in the cancellation of your booking.

4. Barefoot Policy & Voluntary Assumption of Risk

While our name reflects a specific lifestyle and philosophy, we maintain the following policy regarding footwear:

  • Voluntary Choice: Clients are welcome to navigate our property and participate in activities barefoot if they so choose.
  • No Requirement: Barefoot Bushcraft will never ask, demand, or require any participant to remove their footwear.
  • Assumption of Risk: Participants who choose to go barefoot do so at their own discretion and voluntarily assume all risks of injury, including but not limited to cuts, punctures, abrasions, or environmental hazards. Barefoot Bushcraft and its instructors are not liable for any injuries resulting from a participant’s choice to remain unshod.

5. Pricing and Accuracy

All prices, services, and schedules listed on this website are subject to change without notice. Barefoot Bushcraft is not responsible for outdated information or cached versions of the site found via search engines. We are under no obligation to honor pricing from archived or historical pages. The current rate at the time of formal booking is the only applicable price.

6. Photography and Media Release

Important Notice regarding Likeness and Media: Participation in Barefoot Bushcraft activities often involves being photographed or filmed. By attending our programs, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • Capture: We regularly take photos and videos of participants during archery, primitive skills, and outdoor activities.
  • Usage: These images/videos may be used online, on social media, or in advertising to promote Barefoot Bushcraft.
  • Distribution: We distribute content across a wide array of over 14 social media platforms.
  • Permanence: Due to the decentralized nature of these platforms, media cannot be removed once it has been published. By participating, you waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product.

7. Data Security

We implement standard security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. We do not sell or trade your personally identifiable information to outside parties for marketing purposes.

8. Consent

By using our site and registering for our services, you consent to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.

9. Refunds

BAREFOOT BUSHCRAFT BOOKING & CREDIT POLICY

All Bookings are Final. No Cash Refunds. Future Credits Issued.

At Barefoot Bushcraft, we operate on a strict No Cash Refunds policy for all classes, workshops, events, and registrations. When completing your online reservation, you are required to explicitly acknowledge and consent to this policy by checking the mandatory verification box, which states: “I understand no refunds.” Without actively checking this box to signify your agreement, a booking cannot be completed.

Our Commitment: Booking Credits

While we do not issue monetary refunds to original payment methods, we ensure you do not lose your money. If you are unable to attend your scheduled session, Barefoot Bushcraft will issue you a Booking Credit equal to the value of your registration. This credit can be applied toward any future class, workshop, or event, subject to availability.

Legal Framework & Compliance with Ontario Law

Our policy is fully compliant with and protected under provincial legislation. Under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002, S.O. 2002, c. 30, Sched. A, online bookings are legally classified as “Internet Agreements” and are governed by Part IV (Sections 37 to 40) of the Act.

Ontario consumer law does not provide a general right to a cash refund for services or event bookings. Instead, the statute dictates that the specific terms and conditions established by the business govern the transaction, provided they are clearly disclosed to the consumer prior to purchasing.

Specifically, Ontario Regulation 17/05 (General Regulation under the CPA), Section 24(1), paragraph 12 requires businesses to explicitly outline before purchase:

“The rights, if any, that the supplier agrees the consumer will have in addition to the rights under the Act and the obligations, if any, by which the supplier agrees to be bound in addition to the obligations under the Act, in relation to cancellations, returns, exchanges and refunds.”

By clearly stating our terms up front, offering a future booking credit in lieu of cash, and requiring an express, manual confirmation (“I understand that all registrations are final and non-refundable under any circumstances. Gift Certificate will be issued where necessary.”) before checkout, Barefoot Bushcraft strictly satisfies all pre-contract disclosure requirements mandated by Section 38 of the Act.
