Barefoot Bushcraft is heading to Wiarton for a special one-day Archery Intensive at Great Ape Empire.
This is not a one-hour recreational archery session. It is a concentrated day of hands-on instruction designed for people who want to spend real time developing their shooting, correcting problems, and becoming more confident and consistent with a bow.
Whether you have limited archery experience or have been shooting for some time and want to improve, the day will focus on practical shooting skills, good form, repeatable technique and learning to understand what is actually happening when an arrow leaves your bow.
What We’ll Work On
Throughout the intensive, participants will work through progressive shooting exercises including:
- Shooting stance, posture and alignment
- Consistent grip and bow control
- Drawing and anchoring
- Release and follow-through
- Understanding arrow flight and correcting common problems
- Building consistency and accuracy
- Shooting at changing distances
- Shooting from different practical positions
- Instinctive and traditional shooting techniques
- Individual coaching and form correction
- Practical shooting challenges as skills progress
This is intended to be a hands-on training day, with a limited class size so participants receive meaningful individual instruction rather than simply standing on a shooting line firing arrows.
Equipment
Barefoot Bushcraft will provide archery equipment for the program.
Participants who already own archery equipment may also bring it along. Personal equipment must be suitable for the program and will be inspected by the instructor before use.
Your Instructor
The program will be instructed by Wolf Starchild of Barefoot Bushcraft, an experienced outdoor educator and Ontario Archery Association coach.
Barefoot Bushcraft has been providing outdoor education, archery, bushcraft and wilderness skills programming in Ontario since 2013, working with beginners, families, schools, youth groups and experienced outdoor enthusiasts.
Make a Weekend of It
This archery intensive is part of a weekend of outdoor training taking place at Great Ape Empire in Wiarton.
On Saturday, September 12, Great Ape Empire is hosting Plinkin’ in the Woods with Frugal Gunnie, a full-day practical rimfire marksmanship course.
For participants travelling to Wiarton, weekend camping is available through Great Ape Empire for $20 per person, making it possible to attend the weekend’s activities without having to arrange separate accommodations.
Camping arrangements and payment are handled through Great Ape Empire.
